Car InsuranceRACT Insurance commenced its operation as a managing agent for NRMA Insurance in 1985. NRMA products were sold under the RACT Insurance name from 1985 until July 1995.
In July 1995 RACT Insurance Pty Ltd was raised and all existing business written through RACT was transferred to the new company.
In 2004 RACT Insurance entered a new era. The company was bought outright from a joint partnership with NRMA in early 2004 and on the 31st of March 2004 RACT Insurance was sold to the SUNCORP Group.
This change has seen RACT Insurance become the market leader in personal insurance in Tasmania, with the combined portfolio brands of SUNCORP, GIO and RACT Insurance.
On September 1 2007, RACT Insurance Pty Ltd again saw some owner changes.
RACT Insurance are now a Joint Venture operation with the owning parties being SUNCORP METWAY INSURANCE LIMITED and THE ROYAL AUTOMOBILE OF TASMANIA Limited.
This move has seen no major staffing or operational changes other than a new RACT Insurance Board has been appointed.
The RACT Insurance suite of products are distributed via the RACT (The Club) branch network. All claims and administration is still operated within Tasmania along with our own Assessors and Selected Repairer network.
